How it all started...
In 1974, Pastor Herbert Yandell, with his wife Geneva, started Ellendale Assembly of God. The church was located in their home with about 10 members. Over the next 20 years, Pastor Yandell saw amazing growth in the church, with three different building campaigns, and bringing the church to the previous property, located on Hwy 70. During his time as Pastor, the church was renamed from Ellendale Assembly to Bartlett First Assembly of God. Pastor Yandell and his wife retired from the church in 1994.
In 1999, Dr. Gene Burgess and his wife Heather became the Pastor’s of Bartlett First Assembly and led us faithfully for the next 15 years until he retired 2014.

Legacy today...
Since 2014 Pastor Johnny and Mallory Byrd have served as our lead pastors. The church went through a rebranding to Legacy Church in 2020, and a move to our current home, here at St. Elmo.
Where we are headed...
Our goals here at Legacy Church are simple, we want to be the Holy Spirit’s voice to our community.
